PSTACI AND AGROPECUARIA RIO SANTANA SIGN LANDMARK AGREEMENT TO BOOST AQUACULTURE IN CÔTE D’IVOIRE
The Strategic Aquaculture Transformation Programme in Côte d’Ivoire (PSTACI) and Agropecuaria Rio Santana Ltda of Brazil have signed a historic memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop a sustainable aquaculture zone in Côte d’Ivoire.
The signing ceremony, held on 4 March 2025 at PSTACI and attended by members of teams from both organizations, marks an important step in cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and Brazil, Reaffirming a joint commitment to innovation and sustainable development in aquaculture.

This partnership unites 𝐈𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞 to advance modern aquaculture, enhance local fish production, and drive economic growth. The long-term aim of the partnership is to develop aquaculture production of at least 20,000 tonnes per year within 5 years. The initiative will also establish pilot sites to test advanced aquaculture techniques, with a vision for large-scale expansion in the coming years.
“This agreement marks a major step forward in our mission to transform Côte d’Ivoire’s aquaculture industry,” said Modibo Samake, General Coordinator of PSTACI. “We are confident that this partnership will introduce best practices, create economic opportunities, and reinforce our country’s food security.”
Hasani-Bilal Damazio Executive Vice-President of Agropecuaria Rio Santana, emphasized the strong historical ties between Brazil and Côte d’Ivoire, as well as the project’s vast potential: “Côte d’Ivoire offers ideal conditions for aquaculture, and we are eager to apply our expertise to support local fish production. Our goal is not just to cultivate fish but to establish a thriving aquaculture ecosystem that benefits the local economy and communities.”
